February Callings: Feeding Mankind!

Image result for ocean and moon
Penned By B D Narayankar

think that I shall never see
A baby as beautiful as the ocean

The ocean whose hungry mouth is
pressed
Against the beautiful Moon's
breast ...

Note: Somebody asked me yesterday what is the time when women look most beautiful. I said, "When I see a woman under a veil feeding her child!" My eyes secrete tears whenever I happen to see this.

A man can repay all his debts, but not the debt of his mother's milk.

I dedicate this short poem to those who have entered motherhood.

Inspired by Joyce Kilmer's poem - Tree

A Drop Of Tear, A Drop Of Blood - All That We Have

I humbly request Ricky Kej to lend music to this

Penned By B D Narayankar

When a tear drops from your eye
A drop of blood falls from my heart
Though our separation has pierced my heart
You live in me, we have never been apart

I

While I and you, under the light walked apart
Our shadows long, leaning met to pet and part
Though our separation has pierced my heart
You live in me, we have never been apart

When a tear drops from your eye
A drop of blood falls from my heart

II

Come lock me like the blossom locks its fragrance in her heart
Come touch me, feel me, reach me, heel me, let music start
Though our separation has pierced my heart
You live in me, we have never been apart

When a tear drops from your eye
A drop of blood falls from my heart

I choose to love you in silence

as I find no rejection
I choose to love you in silence
as I own you without objection!

Note: I have omitted you in the last verse. The last verse means - "As I own YOU without objection"

Listen O Oblivious - सुनो ओ गाफिल

Penned By Narayan-Chandra Rauf

शायर:नारायण-चन्द्र रउफ

बसा किसी को आँखो में गाफिल
यह ज़िंदगी ना मिलेगी दोबारा
ज़िंदगी गर रही तो भी
यह जवानी ना मिलेगी

Translation

Captivate someone in your eyes, o oblivious one!
You will not get this life again
If ever life remains,
You will not get to be young again

Note: Contrary to these verses which connotes the belief in one birth, I am firm believer in rebirt - So, be clear in your mind. This is only a poetry ...

You A Strange Molten Heat, My Love!!!!!

Penned By B D Narayankar

Where did she get this strange molten heat?
the farthest I go from her
I get burns
The nearer I go to her
cool,
pleasant she turns!

Note: She is unbelievable, she's innocent because she doesn't know her worth, a worth uncountable, divine!

I Am DK Ravi, Who Never Dies

land
Penned By B D Narayankar

Do not cut my fame into pieces
I'm used to your poisoned kisses
I'm a thousand Jeez that bleed
I'm the star glints at nights
I'm the wind sprints on ice
I'm a thousand fire that burns
reducing to ashes the rotting worms
When you awaken from the slumber
raise a little voice, raise a thunder
Of the quiet smouldering molten might
I'm a soldier brave gives up not fight
Can I think of a cowardly suicide,
for I'm always prepared to be crucified

Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not here, I did not die
Nor said goodbye!

Your Face Means Everything To Me

Penned By Narayan-Chandra Rauf

behold your face in my eyes, thirsty
For when it sinks
Life is a rotten field
That stinks.

I behold your face in my eyes, thirsty
For when it fades
Life's a treeless phase
Without shades

Lamborghini Musings - The Confusion

Penned By B D Narayankar

She walked off after rising from the chair,
and turning back,
she could only see this -
that the hands of the chair waved at her

She couldn't fathom, was confused
She asked herself -
was that to bid adieu, or to call her back?

Note: The last time I saw her was at Lamborghini car launch event. She had walked off rising from the chair and faded away from me, climbing the staircase ...

Here I am trying to divulge the bond between her and the chair, upon which she was sitting at the event.
When she rose to walk off I saw the chair (personified as a waving hand of mine) moved to-and-fro because of the pressure that she put on it before walking.

She, however, could not make out whether was that waving by the chair to bid adieu or to call her back

When Your Eyes Found Me

Penned By Narayan-Chandra Rauf

When I pull the dark night upon my face,
I dream about your eyes
Your eyes of deep ocean,
your cool soft eyes
I know they support you -
your beauty rests upon them ...

I love your eyes only because
they fell upon the moon;
upon the hills and upon every spectacle,
until they fell upon me!

Where are you now?

Penned By Narayan-Chandra Rauf - Alias B D Narayankar

Hey stranger, sometimes call me out from somewhere

Here I am living in pieces
There you are living in pieces

Each day, the silken winds ask me

on their arrivals and departures
"where's that milky innocent bud
that wonder, where's she?
that light, where's she?
that life-giving dust, where's she?
you are half alive, I am half alive ...
both are living thus

Hey stranger, sometimes call me out from somewhere
Here I am living in pieces
There you are living in pieces

You aren't here, but still your smiles linger
Your face isn't, but your footfalls jingle
Where are you, Love, where are you?
where's your footprint
where's my world
you are half alive, I am half alive ...
are living thus, you there, I here
single day every morn

Hey stranger, sometimes call me out from somewhere
Here I am living in pieces
There you are living in pieces

Note: I had heard this "Dil Se" Number - Aye Ajnabi - many a times before, but yesterday when I heard I sunk into the river of emotions, not even a help came forth to buoy me up. The help came when I decided to translate this number penned by Gulzar.

I have made a humble and nasty effort to translate it. If not good, please forgive me friends, brothers, sisters and you, My Love.

This song reminded me of the last phone call she made before departing for a work divine. I am expecting her return laden with her bygone childhood  memories ... Insha Allah!

For Your Eyes Only!

Deeksha Seth
Penned By B D Narayankar

Take gold away from me, if you wish,
take shore away, but
do not take from me yours eyes

Do not take away the stars,
the pearls that you wear
the fragrance that blazes
forth from your hair,
the quivering lips
of silver born in you

My journey is harsh and I come back
with legs severed
at times from having tread
the thorny path,
but when your eyes blink
they dive into my heart seeking me
and they find for me all
the chests of life

My Love, in the darkest
hour your eyes
open, and if suddenly
you see my sorrows shading
the canvas of my life,
look at me, because your eyes
will be for my soul
like a cool morn, a pleasant morn

Next to the flowers in spring,
your eyes must spread
their fragrant spin,
and during monsoon, love,
I want your eyes like
the devotees I was waiting for,
the good devotee, the devotee
of my holy land

Look at the moon,
at the sun, at the hills
Look at the undulating
ways of life
look at this flimsy
man who loves you,
but when I step out,
step in,
deny me gold, shore, stars,
pearls, fragrance
but never your eyes
for I would die

Note: For the time since I saw her, not the photo I posted here, I was mesmerised by her eyes. When her eyes started to sink down on my arrivals, my emotions ran amok - forcing me to pick the pen up again after a very long gap - Thanks - how should I repay this debt - let me know ...

Those Saddest Lines

Penned By B D Narayankar

Tonight I can sing the saddest lines

Sing, for instance, "A flower is rattled and fragrance quiver far off, long"

Tonight I can sing the saddest lines
To think that the blue has faded from the waters of sea
The  gusts of wind appeared dry, listless without she

My eyes search for her as nights search for lights
My heart cries as river cries for crazy nights

She loves me in bits and pieces, or loves me endlessly
How could I have resisted love-filled eyes needlessly

Tonight I can sing the saddest lines
that by not gaining you isn't a loss
But how does it matter, you still love me,
for everything else isn't a gloss

Each moment the life breathes into me
gives life to me
That which comes is because of you
and these are the verses that I sing for you

Note: Inspired By Pablo Neruda's poem - Tonight I can Write The Saddest Lines

The Eternal Flame - Eternal Love

Penned By Narayan-Chandra Rauf

I look at drops of dew, at the cool shore bathed in moonlight
I cup the morning bride in my hands
or the clinking sheets of river striking against the banks
Everything carries me to you,
as if everthing that exists,
fragrance, temple, aroma, lamps
were pious birds
that fly
atop holy isles of yours that long for me

Each day,
each hour,
I feel destined for you
with a mix of sour and sweetness
My Love,
In me all that softness smoulders
In me all that smoke billows
In me all that love wafts,
springs from yours
And as long as you live
it will be searing for good
just as dhooni sears at a holy
place somewhere in neighbourhood!

Dhooni: Saibaba's perpetual sacred fire located at Shirdi in Maharashtra

Note: I was inspired to pen this down after I saw a couple tenderly whiling away their time in a close embrace inside a famous park nearby ... Ofcourse SHE also was there, and always will in every poem that I pen ... on my mind

Holi: Come, Let's Splash Color On Wounds

Image result for holi
Penned By B D Narayankar

Come, let's play holi
Let's splash some color on

wounds and rejoice
Let's cut up a grief
or let's just whistle
over our daily chores
and call out name of someone nestled in your heart

come, let's play holi - the festival of colors

Note: This is the only poem I sent HER ... strange ...

Odorless Fragrance

Penned By B D Narayankar

I held a pretty flower in my fingers
And went to sleep
amidst night frigid and winds poetic

I woke up and flayed my fingers - The flower had wilted;
And now an ordorless
fragrance
Is all I own!

Note: Last night I had a conversation with my old friend, chirpy and full of life. He told something contrary to his personality. In his talk I realised he is heartbroken. Therefore this piece ...

I Hide Myself In A Flower

Emily Dickinson is a great American poetess, but her poems are very difficult to understand

This is a very humble attempt by me to make readers understand, probably what she meant to pen this famous poem - I hide myself within my flower

Penned By B D Narayankar

I hide myself in a flower
That clipping on your hair,
You, unsuspecting, clip me too -
And angels know the rest

I hide myself in a  flower,
That, placing in a vase of yours,
You, unsuspecting, long for me
in embers loneliness

I hide myself in a flower ...

Emily Dickinson's Original Poem

I hide myself within my flower,
  That wearing on your breast,
You, unsuspecting, wear me too—
And angels know the rest.

I hide myself within my flower,
That, fading from your vase,
You, unsuspecting, feel for me
Almost a loneliness

Note: This piece is inspired by HER presence and absence ...

February Callings: Maa Ki Pukaar - The Cry Of Mother

Image result for the cry of mother
This is Urdu translation of Emily Dickinson's famous poem - There Is Another Sky

Translated By B D Narayankar

और एक आसमान यही हैं कहीं
हमेशा से पुरसुकून बे-ऐब
यही कहीं हैं एक और धूप,
अँधियारा यहाँ हैं लेकिन;

Aur ek asman yehi hain kahin
Hamesha se pursukoon be-aib
Yehi kahin hain ek aur dhoop,
Andhayaraa yahan hain lekin;
Chota sa par yahan ek jungal hain,
jiska har ek patta sabz
har ek baagh roshan hain,
jahan kabhi paala nahin padhaa
aur na-murjhane waale phoolon mein uski
sunnti hun mein gungunahat bhavaron ki:
Kisna, bachche mere,
Dil ke gulistan mein mere khushboo ki tarah
ghul jaa!

Note: I dedicate this piece to all those women who have entered motherhood

Emily Dickinson's Original Poem

There is another sky,
Ever serene and fair,
And there is another sunshine,
Though it be darkness there;
Never mind faded forests, Austin,
Never mind silent fields -
Here is a little forest,
Whose leaf is ever green;
Here is a brighter garden,
Where not a frost has been;
In its unfading flowers
I hear the bright bee hum:
Prithee, my brother,
Into my garden come!
