The Milky Scarf

Penned By B D Narayankar

She stands tall and mighty
this green-clad hill at Jog
From her neck
a milky stream clamours,
sliding down
I have seen it always
On my visit

It's my beloved's milky scarf  (dupatta)
curling in the wind!

My Heaven is Skirt of Your Garb

Thursday, 31 July 2014

Song

The words I stitched in your memory
Have waxed into millions of spectacle
When the morning arrived
They blossomed into flowers
When night fell
They branched into stars

A song echoed somewhere
My heart uttered
You came
A flower bloomed somewhere
I fancied you shied
A fragrance sprinkled somewhere
Felt your curls fluttered

The words that I stitched in your memory
....

This colorful face, this lazy grace
This winking eyes, this shyness
This softness, this lonliness
This tantalizing act of departure
Why shouldn't this youthful magic
make someone mad

The words that I stitched in your memory ...

Wherever you are, I am there
You are my heartbeat
I am pilgrim, you are my destination
I am thirsty, you are the rain
My world is your eyes
My heaven - skirt of your garb

The words that I stitched in your memory ... Written by B D Narayankar

Smitten By Loneliness

Every morning when I peep out
The Rose in verandah seems losing its charm
She is suffering from an illness, perhaps

Being under the care of sun
She used to shine as bright as the moon @ nights
To become a good present to the beloved
She neither looks beautiful
Nor spreads fragrance, for now

She's been smitten by loneliness
She is missing her bee
Her sweetheart, perhaps - B D Narayankar

She Is My Moon - Spotless Unlike The One Up Above

Penned By B D Narayankar

When I saw her first
She seemed to me like -

Like a silent stream
Like a fragrant stick
Like a dove in mist

Like a spring in woven thread
Like stitches of poetry in red
Like lush green fragrance in bed

Like a candle burning in temple
Like bewitching dimple

She's the MOON - spotless,
unlike the one up above

You Aren't Made For Me

Thursday, 31 July 2014

You are a flower
Dipping in my mind
You string poetry on my swaying thoughts

Picking choicest of words
You spread fragrance
But look at my passion:
I want to chop you off

No, you look nice wedded to the stem
You aren't made for me - B D Narayankar

The Stubborn Heart

Written by B D Narayankar

This stubborn heart, a problem in heart
Heart in problem
This stubborn heart, a bit bold, a bit coward
Why it dwells on the fear of pain
Why it heaps new strains onto itself
Why it cries while yearning for joy
What is right, what is wrong
Why doesn't it fathoms
This stubborn heart ....

There is an avalanche in my breath
Mist in my eyes
Why does it every moment bets on grief and happiness
It's full of hope, wary of self
Why is it entangled in untangled thread
Doesn't even listens to its advise
This stubborn heart ...

Why does the tongue slips in talks
Why does the eyes get intoxicated
When they fall on spectacles
How did this happen and when
Tell me why it happened
It doesn't stumble, but why does it tries to recoup
This proud heart doesn't give in trying
This stubborn heart ...

The Moon On My Lawn

 Poem by B D Narayankar
Whenever the harping rains fall
on my lawn in pre-monsoons
I hasten to the roof at darkness
And gaze at the sky
I pray to Almighty - that milky Moon (beloved)
comes curling down as the severed kite
to settle on my lawn
