Where are you now?

Penned By Narayan-Chandra Rauf - Alias B D Narayankar

Hey stranger, sometimes call me out from somewhere

Here I am living in pieces
There you are living in pieces

Each day, the silken winds ask me

on their arrivals and departures
"where's that milky innocent bud
that wonder, where's she?
that light, where's she?
that life-giving dust, where's she?
you are half alive, I am half alive ...
both are living thus

Hey stranger, sometimes call me out from somewhere
Here I am living in pieces
There you are living in pieces

You aren't here, but still your smiles linger
Your face isn't, but your footfalls jingle
Where are you, Love, where are you?
where's your footprint
where's my world
you are half alive, I am half alive ...
are living thus, you there, I here
single day every morn

Hey stranger, sometimes call me out from somewhere
Here I am living in pieces
There you are living in pieces

Note: I had heard this "Dil Se" Number - Aye Ajnabi - many a times before, but yesterday when I heard I sunk into the river of emotions, not even a help came forth to buoy me up. The help came when I decided to translate this number penned by Gulzar.

I have made a humble and nasty effort to translate it. If not good, please forgive me friends, brothers, sisters and you, My Love.

This song reminded me of the last phone call she made before departing for a work divine. I am expecting her return laden with her bygone childhood  memories ... Insha Allah!
