यह क्यों आसून टपक पड़े देखा जो ज़मीन को चाँद के साथ
सोते हुए
शायद सुकून के दो पल छलके हैं बरसो बाद आँख मेरी
भिगोते हुए

किस कदर मासूम लग रही हो तुम यूँ बिस्तर पे लेटे हुए
अह्द-ए-मायूसी से नहीं बलके मुस्कुराते उसके नादानिया
ढोते हुए

गैर लूटे हैं मुफ़्त उसके रंग ओ गाल की हीना
हौले हौले
ये चाहते हम भी हैं मगर खड़े दूर रहे अश्क्क के दाने
बोते हुए

Yeh kyon asoon tapak pade dekha jo zameen ko chaand k saath
sotey huye
Shayad sukun k do pal chalke hain barso baad aankh meri
bhigote huye

Kis kadar masoom lag rahi ho tum yun bistar pe
lete huye
ahd-e-mayusi se nahin balke muskuraate uske naadaania
ddhhotey huye

Gair lute hain muft uske rang o gaal ki heena
haule haule
Ye chahate hum bhi hain magar khade door rahe asshk ke daane 
bote huye

Inspiration behind this poem

It's my routine to toggle through the whatsapp messages and profiles of my dear ones. I came across one - something divine ... the moon sleeping with the innocent earth ... that was the first impression - a baby sleeping with her, yes.

My emotions, sweet emotions welled up in my eyes ... and when it turned salty I didn't know .. Pat came the thought ... picked up the smartphone and wrote the first two lines thus:

Yeh asoon kyon tapak pade dekha jo zameen ko chaand k saath
sotey huye
Shayad sukun k do pal chalke hain barso baad aankh meri
bhigote huye

Thereafter I struggled for long to almost complete the poem.

Interestingly, until I saw her pic I was not aware of my son's birthday (May 26) ...
