Mun Zoor Chaand - The Indomitable Moon!

Penned By B D Narayankar

Roman Script

Ankh roshan, dudhiya chehra uska,
kayee roj sey peela hain
Chu jaaye bhed-jaisey badal toh ghabbraaye

Jiss kehkashaan sey tanngee hain,
woh dhundhali si ho chuki hain abb dhuyon key duppatte mein
Kitna dhuyan aur chateygaa, pataa nahin!

Woh ek akeli Chandaa (Beloved),
kehkashaa se kehti rahti hain
Tu darr math ... mein hoon naa!
Tu darr math ... mein hoon naa!

Translated from Urdu to English

By B D Narayankar

She sports glowing eyes and a milky face, but
for many days has paled
If a wolf-like cloud touches her, she trembles

From the galaxy she hangs -
has become hazy, draped in a smokey scarf
No one knows how much more it will rise!

That indomitable Moon (Beloved)
keeps telling the galaxy
Don't fear, I am there!
Don't fear, I am there!

Note - This nazm (poem) poured out, smeared with wet feelings after I was disturbed to see a clipping of the most dear one on television, some days back

Most importantly, and honestly I say, I liked this piece myself. Hope you all will like it too.

Urdu Meanings -

Kehkashaan - Galaxy, but read an oganisation

Dhuyon - Smoke, but read as heartless

Chandaa - Moon, but read Girlfriend, The Most Dear One or ...?
